Tap Captions and CapCut

CapCut combines captions with a wider video editing toolkit. Tap Captions fits a focused job on iPhone, adding words and narration to footage you already have while keeping the processing on your device.

CapCut documents both automatic captions and text to speech in its AI tools overview. Its subtitle guide covers web, mobile and desktop workflows. Feature availability can differ between those environments.

When a focused app helps

If the sequence is already edited, you may only need a clear narration and readable text. Tap Captions starts with Photos or Files, works on the iPhone and saves a copy for you to share.

Use automatic captions for speech in the clip. Use text to speech when you have a written explanation to add. Review either result against the original footage.

When CapCut may be a better fit

Choose a broader editor when the job includes extensive cutting, layered effects or a sequence built around templates. Those needs are different from adding captions to an edit that is already prepared.

This comparison does not assume that every CapCut feature uploads video or requires a connection. Check the behavior of the exact feature and version you plan to use, especially if offline work matters to you.

Compare with a real project

Try a familiar clip, correct the same few words and inspect both saved files at phone size. Check that the tools you need are included in the plan offered to you. We do not use a fixed competitor price here because offers can vary by platform and region.
