Tap Captions's workflow ends with a video you can save on your iPhone. Add your captions or narration, check the result, then choose where it goes next.

Review the whole edit

Watch from beginning to end before exporting. Look for a caption that ends too early, a name that was transcribed incorrectly or a voiceover that continues after the footage has finished.

Use the iPhone speaker for one pass. It can reveal speech that is difficult to understand beneath music or other audio. Watch another pass with sound off to check whether the captions communicate the important information.

Save separately from the original

The export creates a finished copy, leaving your source available for another edit. Keep enough device storage for both. A source video, working files and an export can occupy more space than the original alone.

Captions embedded in the picture stay visible wherever that video is played. They cannot be switched off by the viewer. If your destination needs a separate SRT or VTT caption file, check its requirements first. The beta focuses on captions embedded in your video.

Share when you are ready

Save locally, then use your preferred destination. Publishing to Instagram, TikTok or YouTube needs a connection and follows that service's own rules. On-device editing does not mean social publishing happens offline.

Preview the uploaded draft too. A platform may crop the frame, place controls over the text or change the picture and audio during processing.
