Choose where to make the edit

TikTok includes its own caption and text-to-speech tools. Those can be a useful option when you want to do the whole edit inside TikTok. Its accessibility guidance explains the platform's caption features.

Write a script that fits the clip

Describe the action in the order it appears. Let a demonstration carry details that do not need to be repeated aloud. Preview generated speech and shorten any sentence that runs past its shot.

For a video with existing dialogue, caption that speech first. Correct names, numbers and unfamiliar terms. If the narration explains something important that is not visible, make sure the captions include that information.

Check the platform preview

Keep text clear of the right-hand controls and the information around the bottom of the video. Exact placement depends on the footage and the platform interface, so review a draft instead of relying on a fixed margin.

Avoid leaving two visible caption layers over the same words. Check TikTok's captions and the captions embedded in your export together.

Keep the finished video

Save the edit locally before you publish. Cloud uploads are part of publishing to TikTok, separate from Tap Captions's on-device processing.
